Around 2000 years ago, the destruction of the Second Temple caused the Jewish nation to disperse throughout the world while the Temple remained in ruins. Following the Bar Kochva revolt in 135 AD, the Roman Empire banned all Jews from Jerusalem, resulting in over a thousand years of minimal or prohibited Jewish life. However, with the arrival of Maimonides, a Jewish spark was reignited, reestablishing itself in the Old City. This tour offers an opportunity to explore the rich history of Jewish glory and magnitude during the Second Temple period, through to the present-day Jewish quarter.

The tour commences at Jaffa Gate, from where we will proceed to the Churva square and visit the Maimonides Synagogue. Our journey will continue to the Four Sephardic Synagogues established during the 16th and 17th centuries. The tour will then take us to the House of Rothschild Square, where we will witness the fulfillment of a prophecy by the biblical prophet Zechariah. Subsequently, we will walk past the Tiferet Yisrael and Karaite Synagogue and through the popular Jewish Quarter. Finally, the tour will culminate at the Western Wall, where Jews from all over the world come to offer prayers and write notes to God.

Join us on this insightful journey to explore the historic Jewish quarter and learn about the evolution of Jewish life in the Old City.
